The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has dismantled a clandestine methamphetamine laboratory in Imo State, recovering 18.4kg of methamphetamine, precursor chemicals, and equipment. The operation was conducted on February 25, 2026, in Isiozi Obiato, Umuaka, Njaba Local Government Area.
In a related development, the agency has arrested Reginald Peter Chidiebere, a wanted drug kingpin who had been on the run for 13 years. Chidiebere was first arrested in 2013 for cocaine trafficking but jumped bail and disappeared. He resurfaced in 2024 as a mastermind behind a 49.70kg heroin importation from South Africa, leading to his eventual surrender on February 13, 2026. He faces charges for the 2013 case and new charges linked to the 2024 heroin seizures.
