The Nigerian Navy, NNS Jubilee, has handed over nine suspected oil bunkerers to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The suspects were arrested at Sabo Field Offshore, Akwa Ibom State, for allegedly siphoning crude oil from an offshore platform.

Commander of NNS Jubilee, Commodore Mohammed Manga, disclosed that the suspects were intercepted while attempting to illegally siphon crude oil without incident. The navy has intensified its anti-illegal bunkering operations to ensure Nigeria’s oil assets are protected.

The suspects and exhibits, including a wooden boat used in the operation, were handed over to the EFCC for further investigation and possible prosecution. EFCC’s Mr. Taiwo Adetona assured that the commission would conduct a thorough investigation and bring those found guilty to justice.
