Nemesio El Mencho Oseguera, leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), was reportedly killed in a joint military operation in Michoacán, Mexico. The operation, backed by US intelligence, resulted in the seizure of weapons and materials. However, his death has sparked widespread violence across several states, including explosions near security installations and dozens of reported deaths and injuries.

The Mexican government has deployed additional National Guard and military personnel to affected areas, while the US State Department has updated its travel advisory for parts of Mexico, urging caution. The situation remains unstable, with concerns that El Mencho’s death could trigger further instability.
