The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested three individuals, Adam Muhammad, Muhammad Muhammad, and Bashir Musa, for allegedly mutilating Naira notes in Maiduguri. They were caught on a viral video using N500 notes to clean mucus from their noses. The suspects are currently under investigation at the Maiduguri detention facility and will be charged to court soon.

The EFCC’s actions demonstrate its commitment to enforcing laws against Naira abuse, following recent arrests and investigations into similar cases. The commission has intensified efforts to curb practices undermining the integrity of the Nigerian currency, including the arrest of Kannywood actor Saminu Inuwa for alleged Naira mutilation.
