The Benue State Police Command has successfully repelled an attack by armed herdsmen at Awanse community in Kwande Local Government Area, rescuing a woman who was taken hostile. Swift police intervention sent the attackers fleeing.

The rescued woman is safe and unhurt. Police efforts have restored calm in the area, with ongoing patrols and surveillance to prevent further incidents.

Separately, authorities have recovered five more bodies in Abende community, taking the total death toll to 10. The security situation remains under control.

Police Commissioner Ifeanyi Emenari reaffirmed the command’s dedication to safeguarding lives and property, pledging to bring attackers to account.
